The Five Elements, Directions and Colors

Element Direction Color
Wood East & South East Green or Brown
Fire South Red, Pink or Purple
Earth North East & South West Yellow, Beige
Metal North West & West Gold or White
Water North Blue, Black or Grey
Wood
The first element is wood because it is the beginning of new life; it is the creator of the five-element cycle. Wood represents the directions of East and also represents the South East. Wood is the form of Plants; Bushy plant like a "money plant" holds so much live Chi and also retains it. Plants also filter the air we breathe; it is so much better to use a natural form when it comes to the wood element.

Live Plants that grow are the real vital force givers. So when you grow plants feed and water it, because if it dries and dies it will hold Sha Chi, even on any dead leaves, so keep it in good condition.

Wood in the form of furniture as a substitute is not that good as the wood items are lifeless and contains little Chi. Sometimes, furniture, books, virtually anything can contain good or bad energy from previous owners.

The wood element can be replaced by the color green. The color is not as effective as the element of live wood. One should not be using the color Green to replace live wood as today there are so many plants that we can use indoors. So both green plants and color can be used.

We have heard many times that people use wood furniture as a wood element, this is not a good substitute to use as furniture is dead wood it is lifeless and contains none or little Chi, it, that is why we cleanse all our products we sell before we send them out, because we do not always know the history behind them whilst they were being manufactured
Fire
Fire is the second element and it represents the South. Fire Element is the most "Yang" of the elements. Because fire is so Yang, this is the one instance where color does work well. Candles can be used as a fire element. Red is the color of fire a table lamp with a red shade make excellent fire remedies.
Earth
Earth the third element represents the North East and the South West. Colors Yellow, and Beige are Earth colors. Earth element is a combination of Rock, stones, Clay or soil. Items made of Clay, statues of clay and Terracotta pots are some fine items that can be used under Earth.
Metal
The Fourth Element is Metal, that can be found in many forms- Silver, Gold, Copper, steel and Bronze are just a few of the Metal Element. The colors are white, gold, and silver. Metal represents the West and the North West.

Decorative made of metal would be right for the metal element. Things of Brass, steel can be used. The objects should look attractive and beautiful. Objects that are pointed or sharp should be avoided. Choose objects that create a harmony and balance in the environment.
Water
Water is the key element in this Planet, and this is an important element in feng shui. The Colors that can replace water are blue or black. Water represents the North.

Instead of using colors items like a Fountain or aquariums, fish pond in gardens are good. Water should always be clear and free flowing, never dirty or stagnant as they produce bad chi that lead to problems.
