Feng shui (Pronounced Feng Shway, Fung Shui or Fung Shuway,
Feng Shui ") is the "The Ancient Chinese Art of Placement,"
that balances the life energies, or chi, in a living space.
The correct pronunciation is Feng "meaning wind" and Shui
"meaning water".
Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese practice over 3,000 years
old literally means wind and water, art of creating positive
energy and maximize the beneficial movement of chi--the
universal life force present in all things--through an
environment can determine the best location for anyone
and help people avoid their worst location in any environment.
Using simple "cures," it increases the flow of positive
chi and subdues the negative flow. This is a popular way
to create ideal work and home environments that puts in
harmony with the natural forces of nature, which results
in a healthy, happy and prosperous life.
According to the principles of this Eastern tradition,
Chi-or life force energy-is comprised of two opposing
yet equal elements known as Yin and Yang. These elements
embody the principle of opposition and unity.
They are male and female, positive and negative, light
and dark, reflecting the pattern of the natural world
in every created thing. Chi energy is present everywhere
-in the manner of its movement within our personal environment
can have a profound effect on the quality of our lives.
Chi that is out of balance or not circulating freely can
mean a build up of negativity those results in stress
and struggle. |

| How Does Feng Shui Work? |
Top |
Feng Shui is based on the principle
of Yin and Yang. Yin is feminine and Yang is masculine. One
can create an ideal setting that supports them by achieving
a correct balance of Yin and Yang.
Feng shui means the balancing of five elements- Fire, Earth,
Metal, Water and Wood. While reading a practitioner uses a compass
called a Lo-pan to determine the energy characteristics of a
place. Accordingly Calculations are done and remedies are prescribed
in order to balance the energy.
Clean Chi (Life Energy) is very essential to nourish our homes
and our lives. Chi should flow like a gentle breeze or a winding
stream. It should not be too strong, or blocked in some space.
Thousands of years of observation and application have proven
the flow of vital energy, or Chi in the home, office, garden
or any public space. When the flow of chi through our space
is blocked, it becomes stale and stagnant, like a pond choked
with algae and fallen leaves, this will weaken chi and one feels
depressed, tired, run down, problems in relationships, cash
flow, health, family, wealth, career and unable to focus, or
move forward in our efforts.
Feng shui provides tools and guidelines for analyzing and correcting
the flow of energy into and through our space. Blockages and
other forms of negative chi are removed or counteracted in order
to welcome in opportunities and encourage progress.
Feng shui is simple rearrangement of rooms, placement of things,
the use of colors, Doorways, building materials, site placement,
etc. to create a smooth pathway for chi through a home, office,
or retail location.
Colors and shapes are also associated with the five elements
-Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water- These five elements are
used to create movement, balance, or protection, depending on
the needs of a person.
Imagery and objects such as paintings, photographs, statuary
and other accessories are chosen and placed to enhance and reinforce
the client's intention.
Feng Shui is not a religious belief system - it is based on
a set of calculations and a mathematical system that ancient
Chinese scholars developed. It incorporates elements of astronomy,
geography, interior design, environment, magnetic fields and
physics. |
