| A symptom that doesn't
respond to self-healing is explored for its underlying
causes. A headache, for example, would not be treated
with an aspirin. Instead it would be evaluated in various
ways: as the possible result of muscloskeletal imbalances
in the neck and upper back, a nutritional problem (such
as low blood sugar) or an emotional problem, such as stress
or poor sleep.
Normally naturopathy healing works on the body's self-healing
abilities, and not to be suppressed with drugs.
Nature has the power to heal. According to naturopathy,
the body has the inherent ability to establish, maintain,
and restore health. The naturopath's role is to facilitate
the self-healing process by removing obstacles to a
person's health and recovery.
It works in treating the cause, not the effect. It will
never suppress symptoms but treat the underlying causes
of disease.
It helps to treat the whole person. Illness rarely has
a single cause, so every aspect of the patient--mind,
body, and spirit--must be brought into harmonious balance.
It does no harm. Use substances that are nontoxic and
noninvasive as possible. Methods that suppress symptoms
without removing underlying causes are considered harmful
and are to be avoided or minimized.
It help "create" health as well as treat disease.
Finally the patient is educated and encouraged with
lifestyle habits that promote good health. The emphasis
should be on building health rather than on fighting
disease.
The Natural elements are: Fresh Air, Water, Sunlight,
Exercise and Rest help to a great extent to a human
