Note: Remember that these are just tips for one to know the ideal placement of things. It depends on a person trust in them, as there are many who do not believe in vastu. If you believe in vastu and really want to try, it is always good to approach a vastu consultant who can suggest better by looking at you plot or the plan. One should be careful to choose the best consultant, as there are many people who claim themselves as vastu consultants.

The directions of the plot should be facing North, East or Northeast for over all good for homes, factory and offices. Plots in the Northwest are good for trading, business and industry while Southeast plots are good for chemical, petrochemical, or electric related business or industry, for night time activities South, West or Southwest are good.

There are many shapes and designs of the plots. But only four shapes of plots are recommended. Either square, rectangular (the ideal ratio is 1:2). A plot, which is wider in front then, the back (like a face of a lion) is good for business and industry. A plot, which is wider in, backs then the front (like a face of a cow). It is good for residential purpose. The slope of the plot or land should be towards north and east.

Kitchen is auspicious as it is the place where food is cooked that takes care of the health of an individual.

Kitchen must be situated in fire angle, i.e. in Southeast with the entrance doors in the East, North or West. While second option to place kitchen can be given to Northwest.

One should be facing East with the platform and stove facing the East.

Adjacent to the kitchen platform, another L shaped platform near the south wall for keeping micro even, mixer, grinder etc. will be very useful. However South, West or Southwest direction can also be used.

The washbasin (sink) should be in the Northeast corner as far as possible.

Pitcher of water and utensils for drinking water should be in the Northeast or the North side on the floor, if it is to be placed in South or West, it should be on a raised platform. Never place in corner shelf connecting the Northeast walls

The store/ cupboards in the kitchen should be in the Southeast or West walls.

Avoid a kitchen in the South, Southwest, West, North or Northeast areas. While kitchen should not only be elegant, functional and comfortable but also have an efficient combination of storage spaces, working counters, seating areas and free passages. The kitchen should be clean, without any waste spaces and no unnecessary display of items or clutter. Do not construct kitchen, toilets and puja-room next to one another.

While constructing a bedroom, directions should be specially chosen. Ideal locations of bedrooms are South or Southwest. While East, Northeast and Southeast can also be used.

The master bedroom should be positioned in the Southwest corner of the house. Children's bedroom should be in the East and Guest room on the Northwest. DO not have a bedroom in the Northeast corner.

Placement of Bed: Beds should be placed in the Southwest corner of the room with space all around the cot.

The person while sleeping should sleep with the head towards the South and feet towards the North, however head facing the East is also permissible. Avoid bedrooms and sleeping with the head facing the North and feet towards South or East side as this will lead the user into financial difficulties.

The person should walk towards the north or east direction initially after waking up.

Bed should not be put under a beam.

Do not place any heavy weights in the East, North or Northeast side.

Clothes wardrobes to be placed in Southwest corner or South or West walls.

TV should be placed in the Southeast corner of the bedroom.

Dressing table should be placed in East of the North direction, do not place it opposite the bed as mirrors are not good opposite a bed. Never place mirror on South wall. It should be on East or West wall.

Avoid pictures of water bodies, or aquariums and fountains.

Almirahs or cupboards with valuables such as jewelry, ornaments, cash, etc. are to be placed in the Southwest corner, or along the South wall facing North or East so that it opens towards the North and the person while opening it faces towards South. If the corner is not ideal, place the Almirah with the back to the West wall. Do not place the treasury almirah, cash or gold in the East, Northeast, North or Northwest. Petty cash for daily expenses can be kept in the North.

Living room should be in the north, which is more beneficial, or in the east (leaving the south-east corner). This can also accommodate in other directions like Northwest, South or West direction on the plot.

Furniture, Sofa Set, Tables should be kept in South, Southwest and West directions.

Keep maximum space in the North and East areas. While the central zone should also be free from any kind of obstructions.

T.V. should be in the Southeast corner. It should not be in the Northeast or the Southwest corner.

Telephone should be in the East, Southeast or in the North avoid in the Southwest or the Northwest corners.

It is better if the portraits of the God or waterfalls are hung in the Northeast corner. A water fountain can also be placed in this area.

Stuffed animals should be in the Northwest corner.

Fancy chandeliers should be slightly towards the West and not exactly in the center of the room.

The cooler should be in the West and not in the Southeast section.

Plants in the West within the house will do well; avoid plants like cactus, bonsai of trees. A basil plant is very auspicious, and it should be placed in the South or West, do not place plants in the North, East, and Northeast corner of the house as they maybe heavy and make this area dirty.

Do not hang pictures and scenes of war and battles, idols/statues of demons, pictures of pig (boar), leopard, tiger, jackal, serpent, eagle, owl, pigeon, hawk, crow, crane etc., as they are not auspicious.
